Channel 4 News Redesign

From August to November 2011 I worked on the redesigning of the Channel 4 News. As part of an innitiative to revitalise the program the editorial and presenting approach was restructured and a new studio was commissioned.
It was felt that a new graphic style should be created to reflect all theses changes whilst keeping the ethos of the existing look. The new look should also retain the values of the Channel 4 news and reflect the Channel 4 brand.
This is a visual summary of the process and resulting title sequence.

18th January 2012: Countries are trying to decide whether to scrap the 'leap second' and introduce new ways of measuring time in sync. We tried to explain the concept of how the Atomic clocks, used to measure time, add or subtracted a 'leap second' occasionally to keep the time accurate.

France Loses AAA Ranking

14th January 2012: France's prime minister has tried to downplay the fact that the country has had its credit rating downgraded from AAA. We used a fan of flags to show other countries that have been downgraded or have low ratings.

Alzheimers Trials

12th January 2012: Airing on the 16th of January this story followed a group of Colombian families blighted by Alzheimers who travelled to the US where the hope is that a new study could help those suffering from the condition. This graphic explained the procedure involved in highlighting the presence of Alzheimers in the brain.

Defence Cuts

18th July 2011: Defence Secretary Liam Fox has been accused of cutting troop numbers in favour of reservists. This graphic moves around simple camouflage elements which layout the figures involved.
