US Mid Term Elections 2010
2nd November 2010: The US Mid Term Elections kicked off this week and this was the style I created for the program. The look was supposed to portray the feeling of carnival and circus that surrounds the rallies and candidates who are vying for positions in the house of representatives.
Social Care Funding Cutbacks
23rd October 2010: This graphic explained the obvious shortfall in funding for social care which will occur when local authority cutbacks are introduced. I used falling 3D coins to form a rectangle which I then divided up into portions to explain the budget workings.

Chilean Miners Rescue
07 October 2010: This 3D graphic explained the proposed rescue plan, using the one successful bore hole and specially built 'escape pod,' which was to bring 33 trapped Chilean Miners back to the surface.
Linda Norgrove
12 October 2010: This graphic tried to show the series of events leading to the tragic death of aid worker Linda Norgrove in Afghanistan after the United States Central Command launched an investigation into the failed rescue attempt by US special forces.
Channel 4 News Website Promo
This fun project involved a 25 second promo for the launch of Channel 4 News's brand new website. It involved creating a sequence narrated by Jon Snow and then filming Jon in scenarios which could be seamlessly incorporated into the graphic.

05 October 2010: Microsoft's Steve Ballmer claims 'cloud computing' as the next wave of innovation. This stark animated diagram in Technology Correspondent Benjamin Cohen's packager tries to explain how companies would use this technology.
Titanic Mistake
22 September 2010: Nearly 100 years after the sinking of the Titanic, a new theory suggests a wrong turn may have led to the disaster. This 3D graphic explaining the theory accompanied a live discussion between novelist Louise Patten and Sally Neillson, the great granddaughter of the steersman, Quartermaster Robert Hichins on the program.

23 September 2010: Some statistics on Anti-Social Behaviour, which were played live in the video wall, on the day Chief Inspector of Constabulary Sir Denis O'Connor published a report into the subject.

18 July 2010: Police have started to excavate the basement of serial killer Peter Tobin. This graphic mapped the locations and wives Peter Tobin had whilst living in Brighton.

02 July 2010: The gap between the life expectancy of the rich and poor has widened and this graphic presented some of the figures comparing men and women and people who lived in northern and southern England.
IMF UK Growth Forecast
08 July 2010: This was a simple graphic showing the re-calculation of the IMF growth forecast for the UK.
Primary School Teacher Wage
13 July 2010: Mark Elms is the head of Tidemill Primary School in Lewisham and is one of 11 heads across London that earned more than £150,000 last year. This graphic showed a break down of how the 'sensational' figure was actually calculated.

Pope's Visit
The Pope is to visit Britain but the cost of the visit is to cost taxpayers £10-12 million. This graphic focused on the Popes itinery not the finacial scandal.
Graff Diamond Heist
This was a 3D reenactment of the £40 million diamond Heist at Graff Diamonds Ltd on New Bond Street. It was created in preparation of the trial verdict which is expected. It consisted of simple 3D models travelling around an artworked streetmap.

Public Information Film Budgets
28th June 2010: The government has been running public information films to urge us to change our behaviour for years. However the Central Office of Information will reportedly slash its advertising budget this year. This graphic gave some statistics of past, current and possible budgets for such advertising.
Prince Charles & Chelsea Baracks
25th June 2010: Prince Charles wrote a letter to the Qatari Prime Minister objecting to the development of the Chelsea Baracks. The proposals were dropped by the Qatari development company as a consequence and are now being sued for breach of contract.

State Pension Age
On this day the government announced plans to extended the recognised age of retirement because the current system is unsustainable. We used a golden carriage clock throughout the package to represent retirement and highlight the proposals in points.

Conviction of Far Right Extremism
These graphics were used in a story about two men convicted of inciting racial hatred. They were the founders of an organisation called the Aryan Strike Force which promised street action to help rid the country of minority communities.

World Cup 2010
This is the logo/styling for our World Cup 2010 coverage. It has mostly been used as a wall animation but extends to the website, tables and on screen furniture.
Iran Sanctions Resolution
Britain was joined by other members of the United Nations Security Council in drafting a resolution which could result in tough new sanctions against Iran's nuclear programme.
This graphic highlighted some of the key points.
Public Spending Hole
In the lead up to the 2010 election Faisal Islam investigated the hole left in public spending due to the recession and the forthcoming times of austerity. This graphic compared public spending deficit in 1993, and the measures that had to be introduced, with the considerably larger deficit in 2010.
Three Leaders
This graphic was used as a pretitle to the programme on the 29th of April, the day of the last leaders debate before the 2010 election. It tried to illustrate the stormy situation that the next prime minister would be inheriting.
£6bn Whitehall Cuts
David Laws listed the government offices which will now see their budgets slashed by hundreds of millions of pounds, prompting fears of mass job losses and service cut-backs.
We used the chopping board and meat clever cutting a photo of whitehall as an introduction the piece.
Goldman Sachs faces FSA Investigation
The Financial Services Authority launched a formal investigation into Goldman Sachs for fraudulently selling sub-prime mortgage debt to investors. An article in Rolling Stone magazine described Goldman Sachs as a vampire squid wriggling its tentacles into every financial crevice. We used the legs of 3D octopus as a device to reveal text explaining how it went about selling the sub-prime mortgage debt.

Hang the Speaker
The position of Michael Martin as the speaker in the house of Lords was made precarious due his involvement and handling of the MPs expenses scandal.
This graphic tried to show his precarious position by compositing filmed footage of an actor or 'Will'ing producer in full judges regalia hanging from the hands of Big Ben.
